Montgomery County Homeless Prevention Center provides assistance to county residents who are homeless or at risk for homelessness. Consumers and community providers can access the Homeless Prevention Center, a centralized screening service, by calling a toll-free telephone number. Qualified service assessment specialists conduct an initial screening and refer consumers to appropriate housing or homeless provider agencies or resources.

Contact the Call Center for information regarding:

  • shelters for individuals and families;
  • food pantries;
  • substance abuse and behavioral health resources;
  • developmental disabilities resources;
  • rental and utility assistance.

Service assessment specialists also screen potential clients for Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) financial assistance from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Intended for those at risk of homelessness or recently experiencing homelessness, HPRP provides rapid housing options. The project will serve as a bridge to housing, homeless and case management services provisioned and funded by the Hearth Act beginning in 2012.

Our centralized database stores and analyzes data collected from callers. This helps funders, housing and homeless providers, and government agencies to improve the quality of housing and homelessness programs and services.
